Planning By Son of Perdition

Jesus prayed for his disciples how none
of them were lost except the son of
perdition. Jesus knew from the beginning
who would not believe and who was going
to betray Him. Jesus did not lose Judas
Iscariot since Judas did not believe in
Him. Judas did not recognized he was lost.

John 17:12
While I was with them in the world,
I kept them in thy name: those that
thou gavest me I have kept, and none
of them is lost, but the son [G5207]
of perdition [G684]; that the scripture
might be fulfilled.

Strong's G5207 - Huios = male offspring,
a descendant, a son

Strong's G684 - Apoleia = perdition,
destruction, waste, damnable, to die,
perish, pernicious; Strong's Lexicon
usage includes: destroying, perishing,
utter destruction, ruin; complete loss
due to utter destruction

Was this a failure of Jesus in terms of
not being able to save Judas Iscariot?

No. Why?

Because the ministry of Jesus was designed
to save us from our sinful lower nature.

Judas chose to hide among the followers but
he did not slip through unrecognized as he
was a fulfilment of holy scriptures.

Psalm 41:9
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom
I trusted, which did eat of my bread,
hath lifted up [his] heel against me.

and again, in the New Testament:

John 13:18
I speak not of you all: I know whom
I have chosen: but that the scripture
may be fulfilled, He that eateth bread
with me hath lifted up his heel against
me.

Judas did not want to lay down his own
life, pick up his own cross and follow
Jesus as a believer.

How did Jesus view Judas Iscariot?

John 6:71
He (Jesus) spake of Judas Iscariot
[the son] of Simon: for he it was
that should betray him, being one
of the twelve (apostles).

What did Judas Iscariot want from Jesus?

Judas Iscariot decided to 'conveniently
betray' the LORD right after a woman
poured costly oil over the head of Jesus.

Jesus defended her action when he said
she did a good work and she would be
mentioned whenever the gospel was preached.

I suspect Judas Iscariot wanted to convert
her precious ointment into cold, hard cash
but then later steal it out from the cash
treasury moneybag reserved for the ministry.

Also, he may have wanted for himself the
fame and recognition associated with the
ministry. Perhaps he didn't like the fact
that this woman somehow stole his good
fortune because she was heralded by the
LORD with eternal praise.

It was within this soil of envy, jealousy,
greed and contempt that the heart of Judas
Iscariot was twisted into finding a convenient
way to betray the LORD.

I can well imagine how his ultimate plan
was to set up a convenient situation where
no one would actually know it was him who
had betrayed Jesus.

He wanted the social circumstances to appear
as proof that he was the innocent one in order
to cover up his tracks so that nobody was the
wiser.

Satan planted his seed of murder in this soil
of Judas.

Luke 22:3
Then entered Satan into Judas surnamed
Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.

That's when Judas immediately left the upper
room with no one knowing what he was really
planning to do except the LORD.

John 13:27-30
Then after he had taken the morsel,
Satan entered into him. Jesus said
to him, "What you are going to do,
do quickly." [v28] Now no one at the
table knew why he said this to him.
[v29] Some thought that, because Judas
had the moneybag, Jesus was telling
him, "Buy what we need for the feast,"
or that he should give something to
the poor. [v30] So, after receiving
the morsel of bread, he immediately
went out. And it was night.

How did this son of perdition become the most
unique figure in Christian history? He became
more so than anyone else in all of Mankind due
to his planned betrayal.

Mark 14:21
"For the Son of Man is to go just as it
is written of Him; but woe to that man
by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It
would have been good for that man if he
had not been born."

Judas Iscariot is the only disciple that fits
this description, and it would have been better
if he was not born as the son of Simon the
Zeolot.

One day soon we will see a modern counterpart
to this son of perdition seeking to betray all
the Jews although he will appear innocent of
any betrayal through manipulated circumstances.
